Books are amongst the most readily recyclable goods ever. There’s always someone willing to take a fresh look at a second-hand book, and there are some fantastic places around the world where you can lay hands on these treasures. Yes, bookshops can be magical places: a good location and imaginative and passionate owners are the only ingredients needed in my opinion. January 2, 2010Like any sane man, I hate shopping. Nonetheless, whenever I visit a new city, I often find myself drawn to its flea markets. It’s not just my love of nosing through other people’s junk, but also that you can get a real sense of a place, its history and its culture by rummaging through its flotsam and jetsam.
