As you probably know, we recently launched our JS Places API which gives you access to millions of places worldwide through one powerful search engine. Our JS Places API provides you with a ready-to-use, highly customizable graphical interface of Nokia Maps—helpful for when you want to search for a specific place or to just get a feel for your surroundings. It also allows you to share places with friends through social networks, and links you to Nokia Maps for routing information. The Places API offers such rich map content and flexibility for displaying this information; we think it’s ideal for featuring your favourite locations in any blog or website. Say you want to point readers to the exact location of a restaurant you’ve been raving about; with our Places API, it’s super convenient to point it out on a map right within your blog!
Use WordPress? The plugin is now available!
After we posted our original JS Places API announcement, I know many of you were excited for the Nokia Maps & Places WordPress plugin to be ready. Well, I am happy to announce that the time has come—it’s now available for you all to get your hands on it!
We understand that not all bloggers are techies, and coding may not be everyone’s forte, but that shouldn’t make you miss out on using Places API for including interactive location information on your blog. We created our Nokia Maps & Places WordPress plugin to enable you to automatically embed places, as well as display addresses and maps, in your WordPress blog entries. Our WordPress plugin is super easy to install, with no need to perform additional configurations. Once installed, it’s just as easy to use—you can search on keywords and choose from a list of place widgets to insert in your post. You can customize the amount of information presented within each place widget, and choose its size or let the plugin adjust the size for you. Everything else is done by the plugin automatically.
All you really need to do is go here to download it.
Our Nokia Maps & Places WordPress plugin works with WordPress versions 2.9+ and was tested with multiple browsers including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera. Check out the video below to learn more about how our WordPress plugin works.
